read my comment again. where did i say airborne was a #3 company? and the reason they made the deal with dhl is because of, you guessed it, making money! dhl is owned by Deutsche Post and they are making the decisions. at the time all airborne had to do is collect money from dhl to handle their frieght and fly it and not worry about overhead from keeping up on buildings and ground equipment and so on. can you tell me how bad Deutsche Post mismanaged dhl? unfortunately abx execs made a bad deal.
Airborne Express was in no way a # 3 company and didn't come close to FedEx or UPS, the company was losing money year after year why else did you think they sold
DHL was never a piss poor company and even today they still have an 87% international Market share in packages. less than 5% were union stations which sorry to tell you had the best numbers leaps and bounds above and station that has oh 3 or 4 subcontract companies who treat employees like cattle and could care less how that employee treats the packages, the Vans, and exspecially the customers
That isn't the case at all, and sorry to tell you but the real reason is DHL went and laid off all of their original in house employees and decided they could just use the airborne express contractors to do all the work, all while having no direct say in who the hire and when they can or should fire. Also less than 5% of Airborne was Union, which sorry to say had the best overall performance. I can tell you how bad they mismanaged everything.
Merry Christmas John! Give Frank a warm shout out likewise.
These folks couldn't have timed it any worse.
The true character and darkened hearts of the Corporate pawns shine in a wickedly devious way,as the vast majority of DHL, ABX,and Astar employees will be out on the streets just in time for Christmas.
Unbelievable that they couldn't wait until after the season.
One day, they will reap what they have so recklessly and destructively sown;if not in this life; certainly the next.
They may be #1 in Europe, as you say, but due to micromanagement, poor people skills, and lack of airplanes (ha,)they tanked in the U.S.A. Once again, you haven't studied on this. When DHL bought out the Airpark in Wilmington, Ohio, They brought in their employees to sort thier freight. So technically; they brought themselves down. ABX sorted what accounts they have/had and didn't lose any for 15 years. DHL has lost 5 accounts in 4 months. DHl sorts there own freight.ABX doesn't touch their stuff.
Dhl is the best company in logistics!!! Best regards from SLOVAKIA.
