dressed in her wedding dress
his mother graced the stairs
and wearing that tiny suit
he held her hand and stood beside he
his wrists are kept warm
by the bracelets his sister made
his feet are blistered and cold
in the shoes that his ex-girlfriend made
upon the hill of their back yard
his father built a little house with his knew bent
we flew on the rope swing
and pressed our little hands in the wet cement
they snuck in the old crane
and flew on a string across the stars
they tried to hide the dust on their shoes
but his mother knew they hadnt gone very far
he woke to a letter
and his grandfather left him that old blue hat
behind closed doors he wears it proud
but wishes that he could give it back
he shook hands with the mayor
who asked his name with a cell phone to his ear
and he shook hands with a stranger
on the city street they talked about their fears
she admitted to kissing that boy again
and his heart was burnt and weak
she cried on the phone to him again
and he stayed up and played guitar and sang her to sleep
out on the front porch
the sunset cars go by
his brother wonders whats the hurry
as they sing up into the sky
amazing
