Conventional washrooms cause problems. With traditional hand dryers you need to move from the sink to a separate drying area, dripping water over the floor in the process. We've developed a tap with integrated Airblade™ technology to combine hand washing and hand drying in one. There is no need to leave the sink - meaning no water on the floor.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. In total, our engineers created over 3300 prototypes of the new Dyson Airblade hand dryers, and every component was subjected to hundreds of tests. Our unforgiving test team was tasked with finding fault and weakness and paying attention to detail – they simulated hand washing 213 million times. They even doused the machines in chemical mixes and tipped beer over the Airblade hand dryer range to make sure they are not damaged by harmful substances.

Hi there, it’s Jack at Dyson. The Dyson Airblade Tap hand dryer is designed for commercial environments – these commercial washrooms do not have plugs due to health and safety issues, and the risks related to flooding. So we wouldn't expect this to be an issue.

THIS would be great!!!...if it was sanitary. Dirty water drops in the sink bowl being blown all over my hands would prevent them from being clean. If the wind cylinders were rotated 180 degrees this would fix that problem :). ....the wall-mount hand dryers are nice!!!

Does the tap dispense liquid soap, during the wash cycle? A period of soapy water followed by rinse water, then under the Airblades to dry; seems like a good idea to me.

I look forward to the Dyson Airblade "Wash your bum" toilet, using this technology! ;)

Innovative, however I'd like to know whether the HEPA system qualifies as "sterile" air -> the implication being can we use it in Surgical setting?

Although I own many Dyson products, I'm not a fan of the original airblade hand dryers. Have a look into any model and more often than not, dirty sludge or pools of water lurk at the bottom, which suggests to me that the idea is ultimately flawed. This may well be a better solution but I can just see it spraying water sideways onto the floor, or water that's sitting on the counter top (which is always in gents toilets) will be blown off onto the floor or worse down the front of your trousers.

i did the quality control at the sub-con for the visual parts of the tap, and for the life of me i never would have guessed that this would be the end product!

Stunning idea and good for keeping the spread of bugs down. I am a little unclear however how you control the water temperature as I would love to see this in a domestic environment. I have not used towels in the kitchen for years as they are a perfect medium for passing on bacteria.
