  • As for other tools to help keep your tank clean and pets healthy, I would suggest keeping 6 to 12 Ghost Shrimp in the tank, and adding a little turtle specific water conditioner. The shrimp are bottom feeders and will help in cleaning up after your turtles. A few my become turtle snacks, but shrimp are cheep and easy to replace. I hope that helps.

  • Chlorine in a freshwater tank may not be a healthy option for your turtle and fish. A good filter is a must with turtles. It's recomended to get an oversized filter for your turtles. For example, if you have a 20 Gal tank, get a 30+ Gal filter. Most turtles will eat any fish they can catch, but thats the trick, they have to be able to catch them.
