Super 8 home movie of the last tram going through the eight ways in Kinsgsford (Sydney Australia) in the early sixties.Police stop and eject the "roudy" passengers, it is interesting to see the old Holden unmarked police car and the happy folk waving it good bye. My father (who shot the footage) said that he just happened to be at the eight ways when the last tram went through, he had is movie camera with him. The last bit is me on a carousel with my mother!

  • Sydney public transport was ruined over the years from then to now by cronie dishonest Transport managers and there lacky do enything they say employees. Went from not good to the worst. State Rail burnt chewed and spat out any one who cared. Well done. The system is as ruined as some of the employees. Top heavy with good for nothing useless managers who would be cheaper on welfare.

  • i hate buses, bring back the trams.

  • This is sad, what did we do with the last tram to ever run on the Sydney tram network, oh that's right, we shoved it in an old depot to roy and be smashed up and vandalised, I'm from sydney, and that's just sad!

  • My Dad was a tram conductor after the Second World War. I agree heartily!!

  • lol wearing a hat was such a cool thing in those days...don't see that anymore

  • i miss the red rattlers, the double decker busses and the friggen trams! sydney was so bloody good with all those

  • I feel like breaking down. Sydney has never recovered since it lost its mass transit system.

  • All sydney has now is that SLR (sydney Light Rail) which are suposidly trams, I prefer the good old trams, Jump on jump off where ever you want before the "Nanny state" kicked in with OH&S (thats also why they ditched the Red Rattler's apart from there age (well dah they started service in the 30's I think)

  • My dear old Grandfather was the Marshall of the tram ways back in the Sixties in good old Adelaide...miss the place ....

  • and I agree with syd

  • Have the city in it's wisdom seen the folly of it's ways?

  • Real Sydney trams, for real tram people.Return them to Geogre St,La Perouse,Ashfield,Haberfield,Gladesville and Chatswood. Intersperce modern trams with the real "Toastracks etc".
