I was listening to this song played by mr. Gussow and mr. Hillbert , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NQLNeInBaU , it intrigued me because it didn't sound like a blues song ( even though it's a 12 bar blues), it didn't sound bluesy , it has a sweet sound , a "major" sound , so I have decided to try to "tab" it to see what makes it sound like that.I have never tried before to tab anything but I was trying to take a page of Mr Gussow "record copying " lessons , the result you can find here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1HKR7ZZD

The zip file contains the tab file , a guitar backing track ( that I have made , a very simple one, Mr Gussow has the original one,and many other backing tracks , played by mr. Hilbert , here : http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/2839291-Documents-eBooks-Music-Tutorials ) and the harp part the way it is on the tab. It is not the complete song , just the first 3 choruses , and I have added another one trying to play the main theme on the higher octave(the one that we , beginners, usually stay away from). The tab it's not an exact transcription of what mr.Gussow plays , it's just an approximation , I cannot play octaves or overblows , plus I am half deaf ( figuratively speaking ) , anyway I did find my answer to why the song sounded so different , and the answer is ( at least that's what I think) he plays a lot of 3 hole draw ( major 3rd) and the 2 and 5 hole blow( major 6th) , notes that are not from the blues scale , which makes the whole song sound "major" , happy ,plus he stays away from the 4hole draw bend (flat 5).

If you decide to learn the song and record it ,upload it on youtube , and send me a video reply , I'll post it here . But my real challenge for you is to try to listen to the song ( Adam 's version) and try to learn one of the other choruses or maybe you can come up up with your own chorus on this song , something original. If you decide to do that , leave out one of the choruses that are on the tab , and play the one that you come up , on the video. Keep the blues alive!!

  • Good job. Something about your style of blues that sounds better than some of the more famous players.

  • nicely done my freand

  • great job Sorin!

  • Have you heard the original tune "Easy" by Jimmy and Big Walter?...it can be found on "Blues Masters Volume 4: Harmonica Classics" track 12..

Also, you sound great man..keep working on the octaves and the vibrato and you will have everything you need for that huge amplified sound. JJ-

  • Won't do a version of it, but I do like it a lot...think you did a great job (did you use your new harmonica?)
