@hailiejade1987 Back then, there were actual "black" radio stations. Since Face Value has horns from Earth Wind and Fire, it ws considered R&B or "black", even though Phil is white. He was trying to break the color barrier by having "black" radio stations play his music.

Around 10:20 it got interesting to me, where he gets into talking about B-sides and rehearsals and 'blowin''... 'some of those cassettes are very good quality... I take great pride over my cassette recordings', and after that his relationship/'relationship' with Peter and Steve...
According to what's said at the beg., I guess WLIR was/is a NY station.

@marmas58ink WLIR=Long Island Radio. It was a lengendary station, but now is Spanish.
