awc=wheels with least traction has all the power(you spin out)
s-awc=wheels with most traction has all the power put to it(works and u get going)

S-AWC on 2009 Outlander!? That is not in the U.S. I presume coz I have a 2009 SE AWC and S-AWC is only available on 2010 GT, lucky you where ever you are got S-AWC on 2009 model.
