Returning overseas voter-volunteers walk precincts to get out the vote for candidates, President-elect and Vice President-elect, Ma and Siew.
For some volunteers, the effort was especially grueling because of all the walking, 掃街拜票 and incessant but self-imposed ninety-degree bowing. This discipline of "bowing-for-votes," 拜票, has been occasionally referred to as Chow Mei-Ching (spouse of the President-Elect, 周美青) "style" of getting-out-the-vote. While some volunteers discovered that continuous deep-bowing was hard for the frail and on the spine, they nevertheless carried on, venturing often and deeply into "Green" territory. For them, 拜票 and bowing conveyed a sense of sincerity and humility that was the hallmark of the 2008 Pan-Blue Presidential and Vice-Presidential Campaign - willingness to 懇求 infused with sincerity, humility, and a spirit of optimism. On the front-line, and from the hearts and mouths of these overseas volunteers came not the shrill of a call-to-battle but soft comforting refrain: "bai-tow, bai-tow, li-hou, 拜托 拜托, 二號" or "please, please vote for Number 2." On many happier occasions, it was the grateful sound of "do-sha, do-sha, kum-sha, kum-sha."
Nowhere else will people fly for hours home just to vote. ;)

The videos and slideshow move us deeply. We are proud to join the KMT Overseas Volunteer Group to campaign for Ma and Seow in March 2008.
Big THANKS to John Yang for making such an effort to record our beautiful memory.
God bless the Republic of China (Taiwan)!
