  • I don't want to say my high school was hillbilly but this was our fight song.

  • I'm just a kid who grew up in the 60's in the suburbs of London. Near to my school, there was an electrical shop called Rowley's and they sold record players, radios and records. In the window, I was fascinated by the cover of a Mercury record called "Bluegrass - The original sound" and wondered what "bluegrass" was. Curiosity got the better of me and I eventually bought the record and still listen to those F&S old recordings from the late 40's early 50's - Wonderful music!

  • Bluegrass is the metal of country.

  • @karen0769 cool - post it!!

  • @redleg56 aint nothing wrong with that

  • two of the greatest

  • Friend, if you have the skill to post this on Youtube, you have the skill to play Foggy Mountain Breakdown. It is your typical 1/4/5 progression with the exception that you are doing an E minor where you would expect to find a C. What is a lot harder is making it sound as good as Earl Scruggs does, and all i can say about that, just love the music your playing. Also, that hammer on your low D, that is a really important part of the melody. Voicing that is an important nuance.

  • @redleg56

and what would be wrong with a hillbilly high school? Id be proud of one!

  • When I was 9 years old and living in Dinuba, CA, there was a 66 year old man (He was born on Feb. 5th at the turn of the century in Texas.) that my Mum was friends with and this man could play anything that had strings on it and MAN! HE COULD MOVE HIS FINGERS! This man gave me a great love of Bluegrass and I could listen to him play all day and ask for more!

Thank you Perry Cutberth for the gift you gave me. I will NEVER forget you!

  • @TheBurgooKing Go for it!!!! Its challenging, rewarding and just plain FUN!!!!

  • @redleg56 I can imagine that, one student carrying a boombox on their shoulder playing Foggy Mountain Breakdown while two others punch the hell out of each other. I'd pay good money to watch.

  • @redleg56 That comment was at the top & 1st one I seen .... cracked me up...LOLOL toooo funny :)
