here the old people don't respect us, they look down on us, i had an old man swear at me on the bus for no reason and tell me that people like me should not be on buses and that we should be seen and not herd. if i could change one thing about my family i would change the way i get on with my dad. as we dont get on and i would change that so that i could get on with my dad.
-
i dont exactly get on with mine, its just arguing all the time.
-
my family ? ummm arguments and thats about it. ive had 3 arguments with my dad today.

You're wrong. Experience is key. If I never burnt myself how would I know not to put my hand in a fire? I'm not saying any one generation is neccessarily more venerable than the next, in fact I believe in the individual - everyone is unique and therefore being "wise" varies from person to person. Yet it is undeniable that I would rather base my facts on someone who has lived much longer than I have for someone who's half my age.
-
A degree of respect is needed for all, but any in excess must be earned. The idea that the elderly are wiser is a fallacy, at 60 there is no reason a 60 yr old would have greater wisdom than a 40, 20 or 12 yr old - its not about experience, its about how well you can learn from it. Some do so far better than others.

My brother is my best friend, I think that pretty sums it up.

Blood is thicker than water. Is that true for everyone? Is the family unit still as strong as it used to be or is it getting worse? How can we as a nation make it stronger? Just a few questions to think about...

be prepared to face the FamilyVideoOnFamily
my dad died around this time last year, we used to argue sometimes over the smallest things and untill that happened i never truly realised how big a role he played in my life and how much i really loved him:( even the smallest things like playing eachother on a game, now its gone i can see how important dads are. dont take anything for granted! :) your family are probably the best people in your life, even if you dont think it at the time. :)
