@xexorz Couldn't agree with you more about the going local. I grow my own hops (Willamette and Chinook) here in central Pa. Thinking about growing my own barley next year. I have the room. I live on 100+ acres right beside the Juniata River and the soil is rich. We are also planting grapes and trying to start a winery.

I grow my own Nugget and Mt. Hood here in New Jersey. Last year I planted a small patch of two row Barley which did really well - it was pretty plump. I also experimented w/ malting at home.
All you need for a malting facility is a large cement pad with a roof and a source of water and workers to rake.
