Fascism is a word that is overused when one political interest group is describing the bad conduct of another opposition political interest group. The politics of fascism is not difficult to understand. But I have heard plenty of college professors complicate the definition of fascism to the point that it would be tough to recognize if it knocked on your front door. At the core of fascism, you will always find unchecked power of big money industrialists controlling the messages of mass media. You could search the history books forever and you would never find an instance where those two essential elements of fascism were not present. Typically, it occurs when a powerful political leader gains the backing of monied industrialists and together with force they silence the watchdog voice of mass media. But last week, it was the U.S. Supreme Court that laid the groundwork for a powerful political leader to join well-financed industrialists and gain control over America's airways. The Court determined that a company like Exxon could use as much of their $40 billion annual profits as they chose to wage limitless corporate media campaigns against any political opponent who opposes Exxon's gluttonous view of the world.

WAKE UP!!!!!

  • Great Video Mr. Papantonio (I especially like the Python-esque animations and use of "There will be Blood")!

That ruling marked a sad day in American history, and as Senator Leahy from Vermont said, it will go down in history along side the Dredd Scott case as an example of extremely poor and undisciplined jurisprudence.

Well kids, it's time to start looking overseas. Mongolia is looking particularly lovely this time of year...

  • This guy is such an obamabot jackarse it is disgusting.

News flash to Mike Pap The Pimp: Obama trickle up poverty sucks compared to Bush's trickle down wealth.

Also, Mike The Pimp, you had NO PROBLEM with SEIU giving $6O MILLION TO OBAMA. Then Obama excused the SEIU from health care taxes through 2018.

    FUMP

  • If you want to sign protest petitions against the ruling see the links connected to my video post

" SIGN A PETITION "NO CORPORATE ELECTIONEERING !"

  • Maybe your college wasn't very good: you don't seem to be able to distinguish between authors and works.

As to 'my' definition of fascism - it isn't mine, it's Gramsci's, a man who most certainly knew what he was talking about. Do the world a favour: spare us your diatribes, pick up a good translation of Antonio Gramsci's Prison Notebooks and educate yourself on fascism.

  • You're full of shit. Take some real classes, learn to think and then try to think about what mass medial might hav been comprised of in 1930s Germany. As to the other, it isn't consistent with any definition of fascism I learned in college--but as you ability to interpret history seems to be pretty limited, I can only assume that you didn't understand what you were reading if you read either of the works you listed.

  • I get the impression that some here don't know what economic liberalism is, and can't distinguish it from political liberalism.

That is pretty tragic, even for YouTube standards.

  • There was no mass media in 1930 Germany - not anything like what we have today, and what Pap is referring to. What you had then was a well-oiled state propaganda machine, which is something different. In any case, propaganda was one element of, and certainly not the core of, fascism. Pap is wrong, and so are you.

Where I got my definition was Antonio Gramsci and people like Robert Cox and Adam Morton - names you would be familiar with if you had actually studied political science like I did.

  • you are incorrect. The was mass media in 1930s Germany. It just did not consist of cable news. I am also not sure where you got your definition of fascism. It certainly does not jibe with what is commonly taught in college political science courses.

  • Yep. If the proles are anyone, they are the overwhelming white, Repuklican businessmen Liberals. LOL

The worst part about this decision is that the lawyers, professors, and politicians still have enough nerve to lie right to our faces about Supreme Court Justices are "impartial" LOL

Yeah, it's not like the 5 consrvative and 4 liberal judges votes exactly aligned with their public political ideologies or anything. I can't wait for president Ronald McDonald!

  • and economic deregulation - much like modern-day central banks (vide Federal Reserve, ECB, etc.), in fact. There is also a parallel to be drawn between the Supreme Court and the European Court of Justice, as many of its recent rulings are seen as sacrificing democratic sovereignty for economic liberalisation.
