A Florida teenager who stabbed a schoolmate to death will not face any criminal charges, a judge ruled this week in Naples, Fla.

Fifteen-year-old Jorge Saavedra was facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of Dylan Nuno, 16, after a judge ruled the boy's action against a bully amounted to self-defense, naplesnews.com reports.

(Collier County Circuit Judge Lauren) Brodie based her decision this week on the findings from a two-day December hearing, during which students who witnessed the events Jan. 24, 2011, testified that several teens announced the fight on the bus, and Saavedra got off several stops early in Golden Gate Estates. ...

In a nine-page document released Tuesday by the State Attorney's Office, Brodie stated that by getting off the bus several stops before the location where the fight was to happen, Saavedra "demonstrated that, with or without a knife, (he) had no desire to fight with Dylan Nuno."

According to testimony, Nuno, a junior, followed Saavedra, a freshman, off the bus and punched him in the back of the head. Saavedra tried to get away.

He then stabbed Dylan Nuno 12 times in the chest and abdomen. Two of the blows caused fatal wounds, including one that nicked his heart.

  • @Himacane Well you just answered your own question. You said you were bullied then you got in shape, learned self defense, and fought everyone who got physical with me. That ended that. You didnt kill of the kids that bullied you. And I was bullied too I pretended I didnt give a fuck they got tired of it and we all moved on. No ones life was taken for something that was going to end anyways, because you cant be bullied by the same person forever.

  • I legally carry a gun in my state (Alabama), and a lot of people know it. If I have on pants, I have a pocket knife. I am well versed in self defense, both in Tae Kwon Do and as a Marine. I have a rep for being more than ready to defend myself, but I never start trouble. I am a live and let live kind of guy. Result? I am left alone. This is all it takes to be free from bullying people. Be prepared, and be willing to act when needed.

  • @Pinkjayrocksblack So if someone was giving you a solid country ass-whuppin, and had tormented you for months on in, you would not defend yourself? You have never been pushed to the point of snapping? The kid tried his best to not fight, but the bully would have none of it, so he was on the loser end of deadly force. I was bullied as a kid because I was small, until I got tired of it. I got in shape, learned self defense, and fought everyone who got physical with me. That ended that.

  • @kgirl1306 It is never wrong to protect yourself. You MUST defend yourself, or you will be a victim your whole life. The bully was wrong in his actions, both that day and all the days before it. What IS wrong is living in fear of someone who torments people in his own need to oppress others.

  • This kid is NOT a hero, but he IS in his right to defend himself from a 17 yr old boy who was bigger and stronger. He tried to get away from the bully, who by all accounts had been tormenting this kid and others for awhile. He got off the bus early, he ran after he got punched, and finally, after what was probably months of torment, he struck back. Killing is not THE answer, but it is AN answer. Everyone has a breaking point. The bully found it, and paid for it with his life.

  • killing is never the answer!

  • self safety first. fuck the bully.

  • fuck bullies. always.

  • @TwoTwinksOneBuff Sure that's what you think I know how a bully works they act nice around his friends and bully kids behind your back
