This is a german folk song from the 16th century. My singing sucks, I still have to rehearse the accompaniment I developed on the guitar. Singing will be next. Maybe I'll come up with a better version soon.

  • maybe you need more practice to get the singing out clear and loud but your guitar playing is amazing!

    wonderful music!

can you tell more of the historical background that sets the background for this song?

  • @MagicalSunrise1984 : There were about 150 years of religious wars in Europe, especially in Germany in the time between roughly 1500 and 1650. One of the major ocurrences was the Peasant's revolt. Just look up "German Peasant's War" on Wikipedia if you are interested in further details. This song is being said to having evolved out of that era. A priest is being taunted on for trying to seduce a peasant's wife and getting beaten up by the peasant.

  • Whats the name of this song? I like your playing and singing. Alot better then I could do if I tried to sing in German while playing.

  • @Diesloanen "Es wollt' ein Bauer früh aufstehen" (Something like: "A farmer rising early in the morning")

  • Yes it is authentic and no, it is not "very poor" and no, the text is not "absolutely senseless and vulgar" and it is not disrespecting religion at all. You should learn that there is a difference between faith in god and the church and it`s representatives. The song is about a priest, not about religion and it reflects the background of the religius wars of that priod.

  • This song is about a priest not about the Lord. Priests are men despite some of them claim to act on behalf of God. But they are men and as men they fail.

how lovely it is to be a woman

everybody were talking about the priest and god and the church,

but of the woman - not a word!

    :D

  • i love that although this song is somewhat 400 years old, you still play it beautifully

  • @Ingo64 Es wollt' ein Bauer früh aufstehn
