@ZeroBoostBuick The R6 is the twitchiest production bike out there. I race in supersport and my bike, along with every other R6 out there, runs a cranked up steering damper. Maybe if you are a straightline warrior maybe you can get away without a damper, but you'd have to be crazy to race one of these undamped. Even with the forks dropped as low as possible the bike would still headshake itself to death without one.

You don't need a damper on the new R6... I fly over holes and uneven ground all the time and the only way I can see the steering being upset is when the rider doesn't let the bike straighten out on it's own... in other words, BAD RIDER INPUT.
I ride it with no hand at 160+mph and it goes straighter than an arrow every time, even over bumpy road.
On the race track a steering damper would really slow you down.
Keep your weight off the handlebars and you'll never need a damper.
