The State House, under pressure from various concerned citizen groups and angry individual citizens and business owners from around the state, threw us a bone and held hearings on 6 of the bills in the State affairs committee on 4/8/08. They are now silent, holding their breaths and hoping we will be silent for the last month of the session. They are going to say these bills won't fly because we are in a budget crunch. We have a 6 billion deficit, all the while a recent study says 1/3 of that can be attributed to the costs illegal immigrants in the state.
What blatant intellectual fraud. Three lawmakers are the biggest obstacle it appears. Rubio, Rivera, and Zapata. They are resorting to dishonest arguments and some race baiting. They all are primarily Dade county reps. There you go Florida.... Dade county is steering the state. The Sunshine survey and Quinnipiac polls clearly show the landslide majority want something done. Meanwhile a couple Miami reps want to stall and even resort to name calling against the majority who are angry about this issue.
