NO! A thousand times NO! This isn't a "mental" trick. It is a trick you do on paper. In the time it takes to use this "trick," you could have simply multiplied the numbers out on paper.

Add that to the fact that this "trick" does not reinforce the IDEAS behind multiplication of large numbers, and you've got something that does far more harm than good.
