More Vet Suicides Than Combat Deaths in 2010

Last year more military personnel committed suicide than were killed in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. According to the Department of Defense, 455 troops died in hostile action, and at least 468 active duty and reserve troops died in suspected suicides. It's a growing problem the armed services have been trying to counter for years. So what does the Pentagon, families and all of us have to do, to stop it from happening? VETS Chief of Staff Amit Magdieli discusses.

The reason little is done about this because it is men who dying, men are disposable in our society. The male suicide rate in the USA is 4 times that of females yet the overwhelming of share of suicide research funding is for female suicide. Suicide is the 7th leading cause of death for males in the USA and no one gives a flying fuck.

why, obama is not the one who start this war it was bush. Bush/cheney are the ones sending our soilders to die in 2 wars that has little to do with "protecting our freedom". Besides Obama is already sending much of our troops home.

Maleness is the the variable that correlates by far the strongest with suicide. Add into that the Vet factor and you have a disaster. As is said below, no one gives a fuck. The "glass celing", apparent sexism in just about frigging everything and inflation of rape and DV stats are the only thing that matter on our political landscape.
