I remember being in this storm in miami. and after the hurricane passed by, i thought 'whew, thank god its over. now katrina will weaken and no other part of america will be hit! ......right?"

@RCT3ClubPenguin I didn't go outside I opened my front door and the wind pushed me back a couple of feet. After that I used most of my strength to close the door. My house was almost filled with water after that.

If there are such thing as an animal chased by a dog but used in hurricane systems (solve this to get the word) 10, it may be this one (2005), Charley (2004) and Camille (1969) and Beta (2005, well no episodes, just a storm, guessing).

@Esaycashbyblogging You went outside?

During this hurricane I did the stupidest thing ever.
Inside my house, a couple of hours after the hurricane arrived.
it was vary quite so i thought that the hurricane already passed. Then I opened the front door to my house. Well anybody can guess what happened after that.

it tough since andrew the people in miami had to relieve this again in 2005 but Katrina was more stronger. this is strange this happen the day after of annivesarty when andrew hit on aug 24 and 13 years day after this happens. this is why i never want to live in the east coast even in Miami. Miami beautitful yes but its like a target zone for hurricanes.

Our first hurricane since Andrew. Only a cat 1, but it was still crazy.

Where I was in Florida it knocked out over a month of power. People cannot comprehend how destructive this storm was. People hear "Katrina" and think "oh poor New Orleans" But truth be told Florida got hit far worse since we had 4 hurricanes total just as powerful over a months time while LA got 1. Did Florida get any coverage? No. Just New Orleans. It pisses me off that people still fawn over New Orleans yet 90% of the destruction was in the state of Florida.
OMFG! awosome tranformer pops on tape

According to what I've heard and seen from official reports; most of the Miami metro area only recieved 65-75mph winds from Katrina (69mph sustained at the airport) with gusts in the 80-95mph range. Either way though...cool video with some nice transformer pops captured.

Thanks! Glad you liked the video. While you are correct that the highest officially recorded winds were 73mph gusting to 93mph at RSMAS on Virginia Key (about 2 miles ENE of my location), given that the peak winds you see in this clip are being funneled between two large buildings, this amplification on top of the ambient winds is what produced the 5-15mph increase, yielding peak gusts of about 100-105mph.
