They are the Shumei Taiko ensemble and actually the piece is called "Soh" or Speed. This piece is supposed to resemble the rushing and runner's heart beat. Yes, they are located near shigaraki village but actually practice near a temple, almost everyday, many hours, as well as spirtual practice. They are more of a spiritual taiko group and are pretty serious...sometimes too serious. and yes...no women allowed.

This is my favourite Taiko video on YouTube. Last year in April I witnessed a taiko show in Kyoto, it was amazing, it cannot be expressed in words. The chills were running down my spine as I watched the performance. I don't know the name of the group (it was part of an event) but I know that they were from a village near Kyoto. They had the largest drum in taiko performance, a 3,5 m in diameter drum made out of a tree. If anyone could tell me their name I would be very gratefull.
