METRO Light Rail Train single-tracking going opposite direction on Washington St.

On July 29, 2010, there were demonstrations in Downtown Phoenix due to the implementation of the controversial SB-1070 immigration bill. As a result, the tracks on 1st Avenue around Jefferson (1JF) were blocked. As a result, the route was split into three sections:
- Montebello (MO19) to Van Buren/Central (VBCN)
- Sycamore (SYMN) to 12th St/Washington (12WA)
- And a "shuttle train" between VBCN and 12WA.

Passengers had to transfer between each section to continue their trip.

The Shuttle train ran single track on the Washington/Central section of the line (since 1st Avenue was blocked). This meant that the train ran in both directions on the same track.

It was very interesting to see the train come in the reverse direction down Washington.
