@MadeInBGR I can say one thing. You are misinformed. GM C.K. Choi helped to develop Tae Kwon Do at its conception. Whether you feel it is outdated is your opinion. He is promoting it in its original form as it was intended. Anyone who wants to adapt it isn't the issue, but in doing so are creating a new form, hence do not have the right to call it by the same name.
@MadeInBGR "Outdated and not original"... I am not one to tell someone how to feel, but wouldn't your final statement be best defined by not arguing against yourself? If you feel it is outdated, that is your opinion, if you feel it is not original, that is your opinion (yet not based in history)...however, you cannot say he is not original because he is "stuck in the past" (ie. the origin...something that is original)!
I just watched the interview of GM C.K. Choi with TAGB and I can say one thing - a lot of misinformation. With all due respect, but there is no such thing as North Korean sine wave and North Korean patterns. Gen. Choi, Hong Hi developed and introduced sine wave in the 1980's and it has been evolving to what ITF Taekwon-Do looks today. I think CK Choi is stuck in the past and wants to promote his version of Taekwon-Do, which is fine, but it is outdated and not original.
Thanks sycodave, it just appears that way although what I'm trying to get at is I actually think it's important for any TKD organisation (no matter how independant) to keep links with a higher korean grade such as C K Choi and then keep this person to promote the higher degree levels, give seminars to all grades etc as from what you are saying it appears that the committee members of the independant TAGB have all promoted each other to a higher level without any outside or higher influence.
i feel this is untrue.......CK Choi did not promote any of the masters.
what happens is when a master is applying for promotion, the committee will discuss whether this individual deserves a promotion and looks at all the things they have done for the TAGB and Tae Kwon-Do in general.
Respect to the TAGB for sticking to their original ideas over the years. Has any one else noticed that every time the TAGB 'masters' require a promotion, they 'employ' a new korean higher than their grade and then spend lots of money to, publicise, interview and promote this person, to then gain and grade for a higher level. They then disregard this person and move on under the banner of independance. Hee Il Cho, Willy Lim and now C K Choi. who's next for 9th Degree, um, no-one I think!
Going to a seminar with CK CHOI and can't wait!!!
