Some have said that Ann Pennington invented the 'Black Bottom' dance in the 1926 edition of the Ziegfeld Follies... you be the judge. She Dances to "You're Responsible"
Love watching Ann Pennington dance! Anyone know what happened to her? Last film appearance I saw of her was in a movie made in 1942 where she had a one-liner as a switchboard operator connecting a call. So cute she was!
People in the 1920s just love frenetic activity. I wish I could view this sort of performance through their eyes. To me it looks jerky and unattractive.
This is from the RKO musical "Tanned Legs" which also featured Arthur Lake. One of the more insipid musicals from the period, RKO's "Dance Hall" being another one of them.
Please! Blackbottom look nothing like what she is doing
