-
the ibanez era sounds soo much better to me

240p. we meet again...

@LlamaTheory His solos on A Change of Seasons and DT's earlier work in general (Images & Words, Awake) are a lot more balanced than the ones Metropolis Part 2 onward (in particular, his stuff on Train of Thought sounded forced)

I actually like his riff work more than his solos. Petrucci is one of the greatest technical players out there, but his solo writing ability is kinda meh... the dude just never knows when enough is enough. I think this sounds awesome though, despite the piss poor video quality.

@guitarlegend950 John Petrucci is and will always be one of the greatest guitarists to ever live, imo. Glad some people agree! also since I posted that comment a LONG time ago, you responding drew my attention back to it and I just realized how much I failed at typing on an ipod XD "this song is from was on..."

@Guitarmazdur AGREED...John Petrucci is one the greatest figures of guitar playing. Truly an unfair representation of his incredible talent.
-
@philcarlsen no... It was obviously a guitar pedal.

i think he really miss his ibanez, and his playing was much better with the ibanez

Lol if someone hates on JP based on THIS vid they are thoroughly retarded.
#1: this is the verse riff of a song. It is meant to complement vocals not guitar.
#2: the song this is from was on an album where DT was being pressured to make more radio-friendly music. He and the rest of the band were not working to their full potential.
#3: this video quality is awful for the low-frequency notes of a 7-string.
Also, music is music. There is no "best" guitarist. The music may not interest you, b
