Runners were greeted by a cool, clear, morning. The full marathon started promptly at 8:00 a.m. with the runners in high spirits. Runners started at the Hermit Road Interchange, just west of Bright Angel Lodge. The course traveled west up Hermit Road 7.5 miles to Hermits Rest. At the Hermits Rest bell/ arch, runners turned around and retraced their steps back towards Grand Canyon Village. Just before arriving at the village, they turned right onto Rowe Well Road. Soon the pavement ended, and runners continued on dirt and gravel road surfaces and passed several railroad crossings. At FR 328 they traveled over rolling hills towards Highway 64 then took a right onto the newly improved AZ Trail and headed south towards Tusayan to the finish line at the National Geographic Visitor Center/ IMAX Theater. Here is the link to the Marathon's website where they will post the results soon http://www.grandcanyonmarathon.com/
