Maynard is one-of-a-kind to be sure, but Bob Summers hits it out of the park in my opinion. I played with Bob in the Navy Band in early 60's in Wash DC. He was a 'comer' at that point and has keep on ever since. He's my favorite jazzer, he's got it all.

Aside from the high notes, what a mean jazz trumpeter he is....I love mf's improv trumpet solos regardless of high notes.

I LOVE MAYNARD!!!!! I played trumpet in high school. We all loved Maynard. He's THE BEST! THE BEST!!!
