I love my 325i. Only mod is a Signature Motoring performance intake kit. They run around $150 and add around 9hp in the six-cylinder E30s and a bit less in the 318. That's the best value per HP gain... A good value for the extra oomph. General HP increases are shown:
E30 series: 6.0-13.4hp gain
E36 series: 5.5-12hp gain
E46 series: 6.0-13.9hp gain
E92 series: 8.5+ hp gain
Z3/Z4 (all): 5.5-13.9hp gain

I have an E30 325i and the only performance item I have is the Signature Motoring performance CAI for about $150. The performance kit adds around 9HP on the dyno, sounds freaking great, and installs in under 30 minutes. Highly recommended.
-Avg 9 HP increase
-Lifetime filter
-SOUND AWESOME
-30 min. install time
Aside from the power gain, the SOUND is amazing at higher RPM but sounds normal in regular driving. I’m thinking about added high-flow exhaust next.

i got a e30 and im think about swamping s50. Do i need to change the transmition. too.or just set up the engine on the same e30 trans. ive been looking all the website find the engine but i search transmition they just give "IT WORKS FOR E36 E46" besides e30. and is the engine good. thank you
Has it given you any problems?
i got a e30 myself and i blew a headgaskit on the m20 motor so i was thinking of doing the s50 conversion

I responded to your other comment, but in short it's been great! If you get a low-mileage motor with documented maintenance history you should be fine.

Hey, I have an e30 as well. Offtopic, I know, but how are the ground control coilovers for you? I was thinking about buying them.

The GCs are great! If you like to tweak things they can end up being frustrating because it's tempting to adjust them a lot but the ride is great and you can pick and choose your spring rates for your own driving style.

what did you do for the differential and halfshafts to handle the extra power/torque? also did you keep the rear brakes stock?

Diff is out of 535is but that's just because I needed the taller ratio for the M3 transmission. Halfshafts are stock along with the rear brakes (with braided lines and Hawk pads though) and so far everything is holding up.
