MD Sega Soccer (World Cup Italia 90)

Simple, fast, fun! Most recognized as "World Cup Italia 90", this was everyone's first Megadrive soccer game due to the fact that it was often packed in the Megagames compilations part of the Megadrive retail sets. As with most sports title, really good played against a friend. Sorry for the lack of spectacular goals in this Italy vs Spain classic match, I remember scoring much more often back in the days.

Mind you, when the SNES arrived in '92 over here in Portugal, this had some seriously stiff competition against Human's "Super Soccer", not mention everyone's favourite "Sensible Soccer" on the Commodore Amiga which would later end up on both Megadrive and SNES., along with EA Sports FIFA and Konami's "International Superstar Soccer".

Nope, we can't say we had a shortage of soccer games around here. JRPGs, in the other hand... *snif*

Shiryu thanks for posting this video as promised! This is one of my favorite games on the Genesis/Mega Drive! I played this game so much, that I figured out through trial and error which team was the best, which players were the best to use, the tricks to scoring the most points again the computer A.I., etc. Yes, I played this game ad infinitum! Although the graphics are simplistic, the programers did an excellent job capturing the game of soccer! The background tune is one of my favorite songs!

It's funny you say that. Yesterday I decided to play "Bulls versus Blazers" on the SEGA Genesis! When I was younger, I could score and steal the ball at will. I just discovered that i am suffering amnesia. The score was 84 to 48 final. Today I tried, and I did a bit better: 104 to 89!
