I found a cassette tape in a garage in 1997. it was one of those 90 minute jobbies that somebody had put a bunch of songs on, but one whole side was taken up with a band labeled "stone edge."

It was cool stuff, I thought. Before or since I have heard no mention of this band. It is both Celtic and French and was originally called "Stone Age" in Europe so Americans would not confuse it with "Queens of the stone age."

Its not likely they would have.

Recorded in 1995, it was played many times until I had the good sense to digitize my cassette collection as .wav files until the time came that I was able to burn CD's

Here I offer the tracks that remain on my hard drive.

Digitized in 2000 on the Gateway P5-166. Tape deck was a Nakamichi BX-2

The French Breton band has its own website, including its album discography section with online streaming excerpts :

There's also a small Facebook group dedicated to the band

  • @MrAIRAZUR hi there- do you know how i can get hold of StoneAge albums? I've had the first one for many years, but would love to buy the others. There seems to be no trace of this band on the net, but they are apparently still producing excellent music. How do you know about their albums, and how to buy them? thanks

  • How/where can I get hold of this band's music?! Four albums so far, and no way of buying it. Anyone tell me how to get hold of this stuff?? Do you have to be in France, and living next door to them?

  • Awesome! I lost this cd soo long ago and haven't even been able to find anyone who ever heard of these guys much less had their music. Thanx for the info.
