Atheist Morality

Without God what is the source of morality? What does history tell us? Atheists would have us believe that theists kill in the name of theism, but atheists who kill - do not kill in the name of atheism. Now surely this is an example of the fallacy of special pleading! For although it is true that some theists kill in the name of theism - some Christians kill in the name of Christ ; some Muslims kill in the name of Allah l, but isn't also true that some atheists kill in the name of atheism? Of course it is! There are many cases of atheists who have tortured and crucified Catholic priests in order to show them that there is no God. These atheists tortured in the name of atheism, whether they were Communists or Nazis.

Oh atheist horsemen of reason and logic - where is thy steed now? To say or imply that no atheist kills in the name of atheism is blatant special pleading. Pure Fallacy. It amounts to saying that atheism is by definition a belief-system (faith) that cannot be misused by anyone, and if anyone were to misuse use it that would show that he is not an atheist! LOL If a Communist crucifies a priest to prove to him the nonexistence of God, one cannot reasonably say that it was the Communism but not the atheism of the torturer that was responsible for the crime.

The theist Hitler could kill the Jews because of pre-existing Christian anti-semitism fueled by the teachings of Luther.

In Pakistan-India in many wars and pogroms 20 to 80 million Hindus were killed by the muslims in the name of Allah.

Taiping Rebellion in China started by Christian convert to establish Heavenly Kingdom of Taiping, biggest civil war in the history of mankind, 20 to 30 million killed.

@fashklash the thing about atheism / atheists is, because they have no specific set of beliefs or ideals, you can't really generalize them very well

@fashklash you atheists tend to split hairs over such tiny issues that I'm inclined to conclude that you (yes generalising here,that being the continually angry and appalled Dawkins types who want state atheism and want it now) have way more hang-ups that a theist like say,me.Also,labeling the average(Dawkensian)atheist as an individualist when convenient,with no common objective is hypocritical. Atheism in science relies on evolutionary supposition.Otherwise maybe its better to try agnosticism.

@manhunt48 No one said that that statement was bigoted.Both religion and atheism have had their fair share of bigots,and also,raping and murder were not things that God enjoyed. People like Daniel,Joseph and Elijah are all symbols of Christ in a time when Jesus had not yet come and there was no redemption.Atheists can't really talk since they have no ethical imperatives apart from survival of the fittest.Nowhere in Christs teachings will you find wanton harm even allowed let alone advocated.
