Bill Carruthers and White House Chief of Staff Bob Haldeman discuss a speech about the Vietnam War that President Richard Nixon gave the previous night. Carruthers notes that the president looked better than usual and that his delivery was paced well and not rushed like it sometimes was. Carruthers' only complaint was that Nixon looked "jowly" and that the camera angle should be changed to minimize this. (Nixon does not participate in this conversation. However, Haldeman was speaking on Nixon's telephone, which indicates that Nixon was likely in the room during this phone call.)
