  • would anybody know where exactly are these seoutside locations which were videotaped in these credits? especially the scene of the building were the people are gathered around? just out of curiosity.

    thanks in advance,

    Chris

  • I think these were scenes on Long Island and one of the outer Boroughs of New York City. I am not sure/

  • The last time I was here, I forgot to say "Thanks for posting, 'burbank'". If you happen upon a clip with better audio and picture quality, please don't hesitate to post it, either. Thanks, again.

  • You are welcome "rocket." Sadly this is not my tape recording. It was originally downloaded from UK TV ARK Site. This was poor quality tape. However, I like the sound and the ability to hear the NEWS 4 New York theme in its entirety. I am glad you enjoyed it.

  • Burbank, can ya find me News 4 NY: The tri state vote opening or something?

  • Sorry I was unable to locate that video. Keep checking youtube someonemay have it somewhere.

  • @burbank Because he wasn't part of the news staff. NBC paid him to compose a theme, he did it, and they parted company (until the next time they needed a theme). Basically, he was a short-term freelancer.

BTW, I've heard of composers specifically negotiating to be permanently listed in the credits of programs in exchange for a slightly lowered fee; they considered it free advertising. Doubt that happens much today though in an era of squished credits.

  • @jokester1111 If you were a TV news producer, especially at a station the size of WNBC in its heyday, you would not want to be responsible for two hours of content in a row, trust me. Filling one is more than enough pressure.

Besides, Burbank is right; for all intents and purposes they were two separate programs. These credits were intended to list practically everyone at the station during daylight hours, not just the 6 pm news, and usually only ran a couple times per year.

  • nbc universal

  • wnbc still airs credits, its usually a day before christmas eve, do it every year. i have one from 2005 and 2006 captured.

  • If they're unionized, the stations give credits as the unions negotiate. Sometimes its once a week.

  • I am not sure. I would presume that since the 5:00 show was "Live at Five" and the 6:00 show was a regular news program, they were two separate and distinct programs.

  • I would LOVE to see News 4 NY: The tri-state vote on youtube!!
