Australian Idol just wasn't Matt's place. Even though he is AMAZING now (and was then), people wouldn't say half the shit they say about him if he hadn't been on Idol, and he'd just made his own way (which he would've anyway)

In my opinion this young man is potentially as good as George Michael; a unique talent with a smooth, well controlled voice that's such a pleasure to listen to.
