I can do that also with my pony

@Ntrlhrsgrl I have always found bits, harnesses and saddles completely illogical because if you share time regularly with your horse riding without them, with due training, your horse will recognize your subtle body hints for direction. I used to ride a 17.5 hand high retired thoroughbred named Jade who was retired due to a right hind leg fracture. He loved when I would ride him because I rode him without a saddle. He and I would just trot around happily. I passed away and I miss him very much.

@Hantarrrrr yeah I dont think we'll be up to this level for many years to come, but I feel better without having a really harsh bit in :)
-
@mawazhere13 But you made progress! It took me three whole years to get where I am now with my horse, and we still aren't even close to perfect.
-
@Hantarrrrr ugh, all winter, nothing but riding in circles working on dressage and getting her responsive. still not anywhere near this, but we moved down to a less harsher bit, so thats a start!

@mawazhere13 Oh man, this was me a couple years ago! The secret is painstaking miles and miles and miles of riding, circles and groundwork, coupled with blood, sweat and tears! It's worth it in the end. Good luck!

i did that without a lead rope
I sometimes ride my horse bareback and bridle less, I feel much more connected with him when i do...

same.
I just put on the halter and some snap on reins, and go.
It's actually really relaxing.
