I'm making a separate channel for my travel vlogs, random clips and music, so that those who want just music can have that on this channel, whilst those who are interested in finding out more of what I'm up to can still keep in touch via the new channel!

Subscribe here http://www.youtube.com/TBGontheVlog

you can read the full blog here for extra tips if you're thinking of going to Cambodia: http://www.thebathroomgirl.tumblr.com

thanks for watching guys.. I'm working on sorting out my burmese visa and flights so hopefully that all works out!

Happy Chinese New Year! Instead of wishing you financial prosperity, let me wish you health, love and adventures fulfilled :)

TBG xx

PS: I didn't mean for this vid to have such a depressive tone! The Cambodian people, (not the Scambodians) were so lovely and friendly.. I hope to go back to Cambodia and spend more time there one day.

  • How the hell do you equate a Khmer Rouge death camp with Guantanamo Bay?

At Guantanamo they were not treated anywhere near as horribly as in Cambodia during that time. You said that Pol Pot had 1/3 of the population murdered, at Guantanamo they were made to feel as though they were drowning, almost the same?

  • @mbergg63 They are very different it's true. The similarities came from, say, accusing someone as being from some secret intelligence/terrorist group, and when they refused, torturing them to break them into admitting they were from the CIA or had committed the crime, just to stop the pain.

The torture and interrogation of Tuol Sleng Prison (S-21) reminded me of aspects of Guantanamo Bay (dehumanisation, solitary confinement, torture methods), not the whole Pol Pot/Khmer Rouge regime.

  • I'm Khmer and my parents survived the camps. I'm grateful every day. When I hear stories about the horrific things that happened during those terrible years, such as the ones you told, I get angry. I want to retaliate -- in a peaceful way. As you know, the Khmer Rouge killed all the educated people, so I want to save up enough money, as well as get a blessing from my parents, who are still emotionally scarred, to go to Cambodia and teach. Thanks for reminding me the importance of living.

  • @chhuniewrites thank you for sharing with us, that's an amazing goal you've set. Retaliating in a peaceful way.. that's beautiful..

  • It is nice to see someone think instead of judge.

  • Good and evil concepts simplify things too much.

  • its pretty happy place nowadays .....

  • You are such an inspirational woman, with a beautiful voice x

  • It takes courage to stand up for what is right. Some have risked their very lives and that of their families to help others while in the face of such evil regimes, TRUE LEADERS. Such as; Sir Nicholas Winton, Geertruida Wijsmuller-Meijer, Jan Zwartendijk, Miep Gies, Marie & Emile Taquet, Hetty Voute, Gisela Wieberdink, Rut Matthijsen, Piet Meerberg, Heiltje Kooristra, Ted Leenders, M.J.Bultena, Frits Philips. There are too many to list here. They CHOOSE to take a stand against evil and SO CAN WE

  • This video hit me; I'm Jewish & many of my ancestors died in similar circumstances because of the Nazis & their MANY collaborators.

QUESTION: How can good honest hard-working people like you and me do such horrible things to good-honest hard working people like you and me?

Turning a blind eye & a deaf ear are one of the most dangerous things WE can do to help it happen again & again

Another is failing to learn from ours and each others past

Another picking up a weapon in the NAME of love!

  • Maybe blame isn't the thing.
