What about the need to reduce dependence on oil for the sake of the environment? I would have expected Brownback to mention the need to be good stewards of God's creation and thus seriously deal with climate change.
I think that's the first and foremost reason why one needs to get off the (foreign) oil addiction. After all, what fuels islamist terrorism aren't those petrodollars as such (drugs, money laundering etc. strike me as more important sources of funding), but a hateful ideology.
