Crass: There is No Authority but Yourself
A filmic portrait of this last Punk stonghold.

The anarchist punk band Crass was very different from their contemporaries. The Sex Pistols and The Clash sold their souls to big record labels, whereas Crass stayed true to their anti-corporate ideals. Crass still exists today as a commune just outside of London named 'Dial House'- a safe haven for those individuals of principle who still live by the old punk slogan 'Do it yourself'.

Director

Alexander Oey (1960) has directed a large number of documentaries, mainly for the Dutch networks VPRO and NPS, such as 'My Life as a Terrorist: The Story of Hans - Joachim Klein' (2005), 'Euro-Islam according to Tariq Ramadan' (2005),'Bijlmer the Rough Guid' (2003) and 'Jeff Wall' (1999).

WHERE ARE ALL THE PEOPLE LISTENING TO CRASS ??? Get a guitarist, get a drummer, get a fucking mic in your hand and shout what you think about all this shit. @roamnet No revolution? Anarcho punk was a full blown revolution, they turned squats into venues so people from all over had a voice, the bands made their own records, no big labels no nothing. They even jammed london a few times as a functioning city (I think it was london). I know people who were there. DIY Punk still goes strong even today, it's an anthem of struggle. You should learn about it less you talk more shit.

@roamnet Warning: I am speaking from someone else's account. Anyway what you have just done is shown to a whole LOT of people that you know fuck all about crass. They were an underground band that made their own record label and sold their records at a minimum price of 3 pounds. They like all underground punk bands of the era hand made their own packaging and used the money earned from their sales to buy more resources to continue the process.

...real revolutions were never made by poets and musicians...they just make albums and play shows from which promoters and record label always make nothing but money...no revolutions came as a result of crass records..fake plastic anarchy to be packaged resold and perverted by Google,You Tube and Apple Computer Corporation...and the NSA.

no matter what they-Crass-screamed and made noise about -the system always made a profit from it.
