Filmed for Theater (Plus), John Freedman's theater and culture blog for The Moscow Times: http://www.moscowtimes.ru/article/1289/42/377009.htm
Lee Breuer, spending an afternoon at the dacha outside of Moscow on Victory Day 2009, talks about visiting Moscow in 1998 with his famous Mabou Mines production of "The Gospel at Colonus." Wandering around in the background is the photographer and barbecuer extraordinaire Pyotr Rofin.
I love this show.
Congratulations to Lee Breuer for keeping all those people employed.
His mention of the rarity of large numbers of Black people in Russia reminded me of Langston Hughes' story entitled The Black Mammy of Moscow in which he described a tour of some production featuring Black artists and their being met by a Black woman in Moscow who was connected and able to procure for them whatever they needed despite shortages.
