I am confused, are Nike and Apple companies of a free market? do they not have sweatshops?

What is a "free market"? Does that mean a market in which the armed police protect the interests of a small group against the majority by protecting their land thefts and other ill gotten gains and stolen goods? Is it the freedom to use a laborer's productivity and pocket the wealth it generates and extort that worker with the threat of unemployment, homelessness and starvation unless they capitulate to being treated like and worked like a dog for pittance? That's a free market, right?

Are you aware that in sweatshops, it is a common practice to tether employes to their stations? That employees can be beaten or raped? This isn't slavery? Well, you are right, it is less profitable to feed your laborers and house them. Better to make them pay for those things, then call it "consent".

In a free market nobody "surrenders" their labor.

Nobody was talking about slavery, you are bringing up a strawman to the discussion.
Those countries that did engage in slavery (vs capitalism) did very poorly, slavery is a very unproductive method of creating wealth. That is why the industrial north (capitalist) was so much more powerful than the south (slave based economy) in the civil war.
I don't believe in trade sanctions, that is anti free market.

I've heard this argument before in the 1800s. I believe it was: "without out us enslaving them, the Africans would starve to death and wouldn't know how to survive." Umm, no they existed before you came around. All slavery leads to is the wealth of the lazy slavemaster, not the slave.
If you want North Korea to be able to feed itself, stop insisting that all nations that trade with the US who are weaker than the US not trade with North Korea. Allow them the ability to trade without sanctions.

Unless you speak Korean, do not be so sure that what you are hearing is at all accurate.
