The Senate Republican Conference and the Republican Policy Committee held a hearing on Thursday, May 21, to discuss wellness and prevention through healthy behavior as a key to health care reform. Helping people lead healthier lives is central to controlling the cost of health care for everyone—not just the unhealthy. Largely manageable or preventable chronic diseases are the leading causes of death and disability in the United States and account for the vast majority of health care spending. This hearing explored solutions that can help keep Americans healthier and truly bend the cost curve in the right direction.
Witnesses included Governor Mike Huckabee, Dr. Andrew Baldwin, and Steve Burd, CEO of Safeway, Inc.

More people are opposing healthcare reform when the economy is getting worst? That does NOT even make logical sense since unemployment is up and people are making less money--yet, the majority does NOT want healthcare reform to save money? These fake statistics are created by the Republicans, conservatives, and Blue Dog Democrats (paid off by insurance companies).

let me ask u something sir.. if someone has Cancer, AIDS, any chronic problem like Arthritis.. why type of healthy choices do we choose.. let me tell you the answer .. and the answer is none.. we have too many sick people right now even if we do choose healthy chooices.. it wont matter because we are too far into the hole that you have graciously dug for us..
