You seemed kinda tense in this one. Try to relax more. I knows it was two years ago, tho, so...yeah.

Nah, I just pull those faces because i'm a dork lol. Well, it's been awhile since I posted this and I can play those eighth note runs on the hi-hat pretty easily now. It's all about building the chops on the wrists.
Keep on rockin', sir!

not bad, making faces is all a part of being a drummer. good drummers make faces haha. keep working out on those hats, great way to build up some endurance

I do the same thing
also when i play or do a roll i tend to " bounce to keep the tempo" :D try it IT HELPS

Bouncing is something I tend to avoid now. I heard a story of Peter Erskine (from Weather Report; amazing drummer) getting on a guy's case for bouncing and for bouncing his hand in between notes on the ride cymbal to "keep time". He said that people should be able to keep time in his head, so that's just what I think is right for me. But of course, plenty of drummers do great without it. lol Just look at Travis Barker or Brett Reed.

Hey, thanks for the encouragement! Since I posted this, I have been practicing at control when playing eighth note runs on the hats, so my left hand doesn't flop around so much.
Much thanks again! Stuart
