Titan 1 Missile Silo

These are some photos taken by my brother and I at a Titan I Nuclear Missile Silo on the eastern plains of Colorado.

This particular silo has been opened, sealed and reopened several times since the 80's and is quite vandalized with graffiti, burned couches, trash and lots of bullet holes everywhere. It's quite a shame really.

I know were not the first people to post pictures of this silo, but I thought I would post our experience. If I go again, I am going to focus on video.

I live close to the silos and I have always wanted to go check them out. Have any of you gone in to the other silos?

@BenderThaMagnificent I haven't been any others yet. They are all sealed up pretty tight.

:/ Just went to the one in Elizabeth today as they are digging it up to sell it for scrap. Couldn't see much with all the snow though.

@wilkrazor2 It's ok. That's really cool that your dad worked on one of these. Theres a lot of history there. Unfortunately they turned it into a dump. It is now the Elbert County Trash Compactor. According to .cdphe.state.co.us/hm/titanmis­siles.htm the site is leased by Elbert County and is used as a solid waste transfer station, and was formerly used as a solid waste landfill (using trenches, not the silos)

i went there again quite recently and me and my friend explored as much as possible. We went through about every room we could find. It's a really cool place to check out

I have been in this exact silo 5 times. For some reason I can just keep going and be entertained just walking around. its amazing how something so huge can just go unnoticed and forgotten underground.
