I saw this show twice live with the original cast--powerful, transcendent theatre and music. I still listen to the score when I need a boost.

Love Morgan Freeman in this. And the Steeles are great.

@moorewjr, Sophocles based the play in the Thebes of Ancient Greece, not the Thebes of Ancient Egypt. Oedipus was raised by his adoptive parents in the city of Corinth, which is roughly 60 miles from Thebes. Gospel at Colonus brings back Theatre to its religious roots, as all Ancient Grecian plays were a religious expression to the god Dionysus. Converting the Greek myth of Oedipus into a Christian parable was amazing.

I always loved this show! What a concept that makes sense. Oedipus has always been played by "white" actors which makes no sense. Thebes was way down the Nile so the characters would most likely be African. I wish this this show were down more often.
