Communism would be a great system IFF (Look this up in a mathematics textbook!) we could only remove from each and every individual the desire to excel. As long as man has any ambition at all, communism will be unworkable. Your final quotation is, of course, the "nutshell" summary of the works of Marx.

@EdWatts Ex Soviet Union was STATE CAPITALIST just like current China IS,.You should know that China is the biggest LENDER to USA . All individuals can live a creative,healthy,loving life when the guiding principle of the society is FROM EACH ACCORDING TO THEIR ABILLITY TO EACH ACCORDING TO THEIR NEEDS.

I would wager nearly anything that you were taught that capitalism is evil in school. The ONLY things that have ever worked in a socialist system are those elements that are run like capitalistic enterprises. The Soviet Union and China are sterling examples of this. So, of course, is the entirety of Western Civilization. You have stated what is essentially socialist doctrine summarized. "Collective needs"? When all individuals succeed, the society succeeds.
