Blood & Magic (1996) (PC) (Tachyon Studios)

Here is a video of an interesting and rare real-time strategy game from Tachyon Studios and Interplay based on the Forgotten Realms setting from Dungeons & Dragons. Like most early games in the genre, "Blood & Magic" is a fairly slow-paced affair which suffers from abysmal path finding and a somewhat clunky interface, but patient gamers are rewarded with a complex and innovative RTS experience.

Note: This first mission took about 30 minutes to complete, so I had to cut out more than half of the actual gameplay footage when editing this video.

Personally, I think this is one of the best RTS games in the dos days. I find it better than the first Warcraft or Dune 2. Just my opinion.

I love this game :) Although the gameplay is very slow, it has something that makes me stick to PC until I finish a mission.

Oh yes... the undead hordes did indeed walk the earth during this first set of missions on my PC. Zombies ghouls and wraiths... even gargoyles had a go!

The gameplay wasn't too great IMO, but damn, the artwork, music and atmosphere were so awesome! I wish I could get the music exactly the way it sounds in this video from somewhere. I only have some MIDI versions which sounds completely different. I may have to look into ways to record it in DOSbox myself one day.
