  • i dont this matches his style(i know im gonna be attacked for saying this) but heifetz lacked the emotion and styleisticly speaking elman or ositakh would have performed thiss better. Thank u, sry if i offended anyone

  • Of course you are right to have your own opinion. To Heifetz Debussy was a contemporary composer, and I actually think that Heifetz does expressionism very well. It suits his style and his colour palette. Heifetz lacks emotions? I think the key to listening to Heifetz is to not look for any kind of sentimentality in his playing. Heifetz shunned sentimentality. But his recordings are filled with feelings. He played his heart out.

    Oistrakh was another God.

I never heard Elman play Debussy.

  • There is something sublimely evocative about these renditions by Heifetz ! absolutely beautiful ! probably the supreme performance of this piece by one the greatest violinists !!!!

  • There's a scene in "Citizen Kane" when the old man talks about seeing a girl in a white dress many years before in a crowd. She didn't see him at all and he only saw her for a moment, but hardly a day has gone by in all those years that he hasn't thought of that girl. This piece always reminds me of that.

  • @xchaosblade0 I just think classical music is not fit for you.

  • @ericgable like i said my friend dont take offense at what i say..and trust me i can acknowledge greatness no doubt he was the best that ever was but i think he matches more to the classical and barouque periods but never the less his Gershwin renditions are utterly renowed and beautiful

  • @xchaosblade0 If you cant see that Jascha Heifetz did not put emotion in his playing, you should listen and not watch. Jascha makes the violin sing, he does ot try to move around like a clown. Many people find his rendition of the girl with the flaxen hair the best. But than again it is your opinion, and your just up right insulting Jascha Heifetz. Im guessing your just not at the stage where you appreciate music from a great violinist. One of the best.

  • this is simply brilliant. I can't stop watching.

  • So poignant, so delicate. How anyone can think the way Heifetz plays is unemotional - he does not make faces or jerk around like so many lesser violinists. He is a man from another more dignified time than now. - his emotion is all inside. Listen instead of looking. Hear instead of expecting a visual show.

  • I don't know how people can say he plays without emotion. I mean, listen to it.

  • what a great job you've done! thank you so very much

  • This video made me cry
