Back when it came out people were totally crazy about Virtual nalog Synthesis...Roland JP8000, Novations SuperNova,Access Virus and the Nord Lead were peoples favorites so this one pretty much went under - the Presets didnt Showcase its potential AT all plus people it seemed like a lot of people thought of this one as a updated Cs1x becouse of its looks...lol
I think with a little bit more Work and a different "Case" Yamaha couldeve really nailed it. I hope Yamaha will return this one as VSTi...

I have for years said that the An1x had a very warm and powerful DSP and now everyone is starting to coming round. I must say with many people they just did not know how to program it and use the internal effects and EQ to really make the most of this synth. It maybe not well built but it can really produce some pro-5 / juno 60 sound's. It will never be as warm as a pro-5 but run it into a neve or psp pre and add a little roland tape delay and you have the sound of the Horror films we all love

As you say, the most underrated VA. I had 2 of them sold and missed them that much that I bought another one today. Back for good this time ;-)
THE most underrated VA ever.
If you put it in poly unison (low detune), turn up the feedback in conjunction with the VCO edge then drive the Aphex Exciter but turn down the top en on the EQ it sounds just as chunky as most analogues.

I dead seriously think that even though it was built a little cheap feeling, the AN1x is one of the top 3 most realistic and best sounding virtual analogs ever made. When you really get into it and program it, it sounds warmer and fatter than even the Nord Lead IMO.
