I just returned from a "pet store" in Lima and purchased a small, green parrot. I'm not even sure what type it is but I don't believe that they are in danger of extinction. However, the conditions that these birds, as well as other animals, is a grusomely shocking sight. What they did have in cages were falcons and other parrots that ARE in danger of extinction - not uncommon for a Peruvian "pet store." Kittens are screeming in the background and we were begging the owners to feed them. They didn't even seem to care about what we were saying, as they were most likely going to be used for food for the falcons or the other animals that are often kept in the back. This must come to an end and Kebiworld is in desperate need of funding to battle this problem in a society that is so currupt that everyone knows very well whart is happening and law enforcement knows exactly where these animals are being kept. So do I. If there is anyone with the means to send us small cameras (something that is very difficult and costly to purchase here, we can bring an end to this. Please help. With a simple hidden camera, I can make the difference.
there's not much that we can do about this sadly...... :(
