Some of you have suggested that I put together a mix of KG's pregame ritual. So here it is.

I tried to get it as seamless as possible, and it has pretty much everything that KG does between arriving at the arena and tipoff. The man is a creature of habit, and he's got one heck of an elaborate and focused ritual.

ARRIVAL:
-Arrives at arena
-Greets arena workers & security personnel
-Goes to locker room
-Changes into uniform
-Puts on a couple of layers of warm-ups
-Stretches a bit
-Stretches and waits in the hallway
-Team gets amped by jumping around
-Team trots to court, KG always the last to go

WARM-UP:
-Runs around the court, gets loose and warms up
-Participates in the lay-up line
-Greet officials, captains meet
-Warms up some more
-National Anthems: stands with head bowed, eyes closed, and sways side to side
-More warm-up; takes jumpers from various spots

PLAYER INTRO:
-Sits alone toward the end of the bench with head down
-Waits for his name to be called
-[MIN] Last to be introduced; leaves two open seats in remembrance of two teammates who died in car accidents, Eldrick Leamon (1994 Mauldin teammate) and Malik Sealy
-[BOS] Second to last to be introduced, before Paul Pierce; still leaves two seats empty in honor of his friends [someone in Boston please confirm this for me]
-Team huddles (with variations), gets amped

TIP-OFF:
-Removes warm-ups and chucks practice sweats
-Goes to the basket stanchion to tie shorts and tuck jersey
-Sometimes peeks out before bumping his head a couple of times on the stanchion padding
-Walks to scorer's table
-Pours talcum powder (chalk) into his hands and -- as a tribute to Michael Jordan -- slaps them into a cloud of smoke in front of the announcers. Poof.
-Rips a layer off the sticky mat and steps onto it to wipe his shoes [2:57 -- thanks to "erangaa21" for clearing this up for me]
-Walks to center court to greet and fist-bump opposing players; sometimes hugs those who are his close friends
-Walks away from everybody while swinging his arms, pounding his chest, talking and cursing to hype himself up
-With everyone waiting, makes his way back to center court for the opening tip
-[MIN] Enters jump-ball circle for the jump
-[BOS] Gets into ready stance while Perkins does the opening tip

  • KG FTW!!!

  • Sad that he's a #3. He'd probably be a good #2 on the right team.

  • Like if you feel like just smashing your laptop... 3:40

  • @TheLegendaryMoja ya, but if kg had been with the celtics from the start(which is what i said) then that wouldn't have been the case.

  • @joseph0arthur actually the Wolves were way better than the Celtics in KG's day. The Celtics made a lot of moves and got good players before their championship year.

  • like if you're here from the harlem globetrotter's kg impersonation

  • i can feel the intensity

  • what do you mean leaves 2 seats?

  • Celtic 4

Rajon Rondo= Heart warming /inspiaring player

    KG= Most passionate player

Paul " The Truth " Pierce-= Mr Bg Shot

Ray Ray= 3pt Legend nuff said

  • @dan8dan8dan8 He was a TimberWolf before he was a Celtic. Though i wish for his sake that he had been with the Celtics from the start.
